NFTS

Since 2019, Reas has released works as NFTs, extending his practice of generative and software art into a more distributed, public context. This page gathers those projects in one place. Each entry documents the work’s series or edition structure, blockchain, and release platform. The projects range from generative software systems and fixed digital images to video and expansive collaborations.

These works continue Reas’ long-standing interest in systems, perception, and transformation. Just as earlier works have taken form as software, print, installation, and video, these projects use blockchain as a system for registration, provenance, and circulation.

Generative Series

A generative software system produces a series of unique artworks. Each work is a distinct software artwork with a single collector. This structure is sometimes referred to as 1/1/N, where N is the total number of works in the series. For example, 1/1/100 describes a series of 100 unique works created from the same software system.

Generative “Sketchbook” Series

This category uses the same structure as the Generative Series category above, but “sketchbook” refers to the way the work is developed. While some projects evolve over months or years, these works are made through a shorter and more exploratory process, often within a week.
